Homework for March 3 - Write your own creed
What do you believe? Write your own creed. Be as detailed or sweeping as you wish to be. Consider this a snapshot of what you believe now. This is not a test of orthodoxy, but a gauge of your spiritual life. You might even put it in an envelope and look at it a year from now.

I believe in one God, the Father, the Mother, the Sister, and the Brother of us all, whom we will never be able to fully comprehend.
ReplyDeleteI believe in His only Son, our Lord, Jesus Christ -- Brother and Friend who walks with us daily and pushes us to do whatever we can to serve others.
I believe in the Holy Sprit, the Lord the Giver of Life, Wisdom, and Comfort to the Afflicted.
I believe we are called to worship the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit most often outside of the church's walls.
I believe we all fall short of the glory of God every single day. And I believe it means we have to try harder the next day, with the help of all the different sides and natures of our God.

I will not be in class tonight, but I wanted to share my creed. It is evolving continually, but here is a snapshot of what I believe right now:
ReplyDeleteI believe in God – one God who is too big to fit into one religion, but who is worshiped by Christians. I believe that Jesus is his only risen Son, a part of the one same God. I believe in God's Spirit on earth.
I believe that God loves all of His creation, even when we are unlovable. I believe that love and kindness come from God, not from man. I believe that rituals such as Holy Eucharist are important because they bring men into a more right relationship with God. I believe that men must not only believe that God exists, but must seek a personal relationship with Him in order to be saved. I believe that all humans are sinners and could not come to God if not for Jesus' death and resurrection. I believe that Christ will come again and, at that time, we humans will be able to know God on a whole new level.
